Participants are affectionately known as ‘The Polarbears‘
This route has something for everyone. It’s a simple route with multiple conditions depending on the buoy being rounded.
The start is in the shallows, direction of swim is clockwise around 4 buoys, finish is in the shallows between the 2 buoys offset from the square.
Imagine a tropical beach.. you swimming out into the sunset.. Well this is similar.. 😉
Keeping the route buoys on your right shoulder swim out towards Duiker rocks,
At the deep (yellow) Buoy 2 to right and head for the other deep (yellow) Buoy 3
Right shoulder turn and head for the shallow (red) buoy 4
Right shoulder (and you are parallel to the beach) head for the shallow (red) buoy 1.
… Wanna do more? .
.. Yes.. Repeat the route
.. No.. continue past shallow (red) buoy 1 onwards to shallow (yellow) buoy 5.. left shoulder to finish (red) buoy 6
Left-shoulder turn around buoy 5 and aim for the finish buoy 6 in the shallows. Timing stops here.
Collect sequenced finish tag and proceed to the recorder’s desk where your RaceNumber, Name and Category will be taken.

Meet at Clifton 4th,
Sign-in at recorder’s desk (indicating race number),
Acclimatise while awaiting the race briefing,
Listen to the race briefing and take note of any route changes,
High-five the headcount controllers,
Pose for a Group pic,
Under Starters Orders,
Swim the demarcated route (and listen to any instruction from water safety team),
Take sequenced finish-tag to recorder’s desk,
