The start is in the shallows, direction of swim is clockwise around 6 buoys, finish is on the beach in front of the crowds..
Continue past deep buoy 2 and onwards to deep buoy 3. Right-shoulder turn to shallow buoy 4
The farthest turn..
(After the 1st right-shoulder turn-that is deep buoy 1)
Aim for the red house above the wide-block of flats above Moses beach (Sea Point side)..
The way back…
(After the 3rd right-shoulder turn)
Aim for the red roof bungalow on the Ridge..
Its a fine swim back (towards Camps Bay side)
Swim past shallow buoy 5 and continue to shallow buoy 6.
Left-shoulder turn around buoy 6 and aim for the beach and the spectators applause.
Collect sequenced finish tag and proceed to the recorder’s desk where your RaceNumber, Name and Category will be taken.
Clifton Cold Water Mile a.k.a. New Year’s Day Swim
Meet at Clifton 4th (about an hour before midday),
Sign-in at recorder’s desk (indicating race number),
Acclimatise while awaiting the race briefing,
Listen to the race briefing and take note of any route changes,
High-five the headcount controllers,
Pose for a Group pic,
Under Starters Orders,
Swim the demarcated route (and listen to any instruction from water safety team),
Take sequenced finish-tag to recorder’s desk,
Attend the lucky draw
